Have you ever felt angry at God? That something happened to you or someone else that you just didn’t feel was right and you blamed God?

We’ve all had those feelings. Right or wrong. We’ve blamed God for uncomfortable circumstances, refusing to see if there might be a purpose behind them. But later, after our human emotions calmed down perhaps we saw some purpose in them.

This chapter reminds me of the story of the prodigal son. Not in the way most people think of the prodigal – focusing on the prodigal.

It reminds me of the true focus of the prodigal son story, the older son.

His daughter didn’t even shed a single tear. The silence was deafening. I tried to comfort her but even the Psalms made the moment more bleak, it seemed her only comfort was getting it over with.

What a contrast to Joe’s funeral where heavy hearts were lifted by God’s words, loved ones encircled one another and fond loving memories touched each and every heart.

Dare we boast about this salvation? By no means. The giver of bread, not the beggar, deserves praise. “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:31).
It’s not about what we do; it’s all about what he does.
